Plan Your Weavings Like a Pro
May 8 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm$18 – $22
This short workshop will help take the mystery out of planning your next weaving project! Have you ever had a great idea, but been unsure how to begin? Or maybe things were going great on your new project until it came off the loom and somehow wasn’t at all what you intended. Professional textile artist Kelly Wash will walk you through how she plans all her weaving projects, including information on shrinkage, working with different fibers and colors, and what to do if you think it’s about to go horribly wrong! Feel free to come with tons of questions or a project you want help planning.
Instructor: Kelly Walsh
Kelly Walsh worked as a web developer for years before deciding to leave the tech industry to follow her textile artist dreams. She loves exploring the intersections between technology and art, math and color. She sells her work at several regular craft markets around the triangle and nationally, as well as on her own website. When she’s not wandering the labyrinth of running a small business, Kelly is working on her Master Weaver certification by Olds College, and is also working to grow her local weaving community as the secretary of the Triangle Weavers Guild and as a Steering Committee member of the Piedmont Fibershed.
