Eco-Printing and Solar Dyeing with Backyard Plants
August 27, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Event Navigation

Learn how to use backyard garden cuttings to make surface patterns on fabric in two different processes. Use your foraged flowers with two different shibori methods to explore color patterns from plant based materials. No experience with natural dyeing is needed!
Materials will be provided, but you can also bring your own plants and fabrics. These processes work best on bandana or scarf size fabric (cotton, wool or silk) and can also be used with small skeins of wool.
Materials provided: pre-rusted cans, glass jars, pre-mordanted bandanas and scraps for color testing, plant materials for printing.
Collected plant materials may include: foraged flowers, maple leaves, Japanese cedar leaves, oak leaves, and eucalyptus. Color dye will include common garden flowers and onion skin.
